But before that we still have a 5 ODI match series between India and New zealand where Gautum Gambhir will be the skipper of team India.

A happy ending for team India as Dhoni has another test series win under his belt. Thing to be noted is India is still unbeaten in a test series since the mid of 2008 which is again a great achievement. Hopefully the form continues in South Africa and they clinch their first ever test series win there.

India Vs South Africa: World Championship of Cricket

India takes on South Africa in a two test match series in the month of February 2010. Cricket Nirvana will be webcasting this series with live streaming, interactive scorecards, video highlights, news updates, images and many more. India currently is at the top of the ICC ratings for test cricket whereas South Africa is placed on number two. Hence this India Vs SouthAfrica Test Series is unofficially also known as World Championship of Cricket as the top two teams in Test cricket will fight for honour.

The Indian cricket board announced on Monday that the Indian team for the test series will be announced on 28th of January 2010. South Africa will arrive on January 31 for two Tests and three ODIs against the home team. The first Test is at Nagpur from February 6-10 and the second and last Test will be held at Eden Gardens in Kolkatta from February 14-18.

The three ODIs are scheduled to be played at Jaipur (February 21), Kanpur (February 24) and Ahmedabad (February 27).

South Africa ready to play Tests in India

South Africa have given their consent to a "compressed tour" of India, comprising two Tests and three ODIs, if the BCCI ensures minimum travel between matches during the series next year.

"We are actually compressing the tour a little bit more than we normally would. There has been a process of consultation between SACA and Cricket South Africa (CSA) on the schedule and though it doesn't comply strictly with the guidelines, we are happy to compromise in order to ensure that Test matches and ODIs are played," South African Cricketers Association chief Tony Irish said.

According to the schedule sent by the BCCI, the Proteas will start their tour with the first Test from February 4 followed by the second five-day game from February 12. The three One-dayers have been set for February 19, 22 and 25.

The South Africans have no issues with the proposed schedule provided the travelling time between venues is not too taxing on the players.

"At the moment there is probably a day's less break between the ODIs and we would've liked to see two more days of break between the Test matches.

"We are prepared to go ahead if the logistics are okay. The day of travel between the matches should not be too long as we have only two rest and practice days. But if we are travelling between one end to other then we will need an extra day of rest," Irish said.

South Africa were originally scheduled to play five one-dayers during the tour but the BCCI requested them to play two Tests and a shortened three-match ODI series after India became the world's number one team in the longest format of the game.

The BCCI had earlier scheduled just seven Tests for Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men, including two undecided matches against minnows Zimbabwe, in 2010.

South Africa agreed to the BCCI's request as the world number two team was also very eager to play more Tests next year.
