It is all over! Match and the series goes to India. A hard fought series finally lands into the pockets of team India. A spirited performance in the 3rd test leads India to a victory by an innings and 198 runs.

Harbhajan and Ishant Sharma took 3 wickets each where as Ojha clinched two. Thus India has won the series 1-0 and they head to South Africa with another series win in their bowl. Definitely India has learnt many lessons from this series and they can take this as a wake up call before we all observe another exciting series of India Vs South Africa. But before that we still have a 5 ODI match series between India and New zealand where Gautum Gambhir will be the skipper of team India.

A happy ending for team India as Dhoni has another test series win under his belt. Thing to be noted is India is still unbeaten in a test series since the mid of 2008 which is again a great achievement. Hopefully the form continues in South Africa and they clinch their first ever test series win there.

Day 4 - India Vs New Zealand

Day 4 will be an assignment for the Indian bowlers. The batsmen have done their bit and now the ball is in the court of Indian bowlers. They have already clinched the wicket of TG McIntosh who was LBW on 8 by Harbhajan. India still leads by 349 runs which is actually a daunting task for the New Zealand batsmen to surpass. The match may end on day 4 if Indians could clinch all the remaining 9 wickets. If New Zealand batsmen show the courage that they have been showing in the last two test matches, probably the match can go other way round.

Day 3 completely belonged to India. We saw the number one team playing to its caliber today. After the early exit of Sachin (61), Laxman (12) and Raina (3); it was Dravid and Dhoni who anchored the Indian innings towards a huge lead. Dravid scored a brilliant 191 whereas Dhoni scored 98. Vettori was most successful bowler for New Zealand taking 3 wickets of Sehwag, Raina and Dhoni.

Finally we can see a number one test team dominating! Pure domination is what we observed in this test match. After all this one is the decider. Bowling out the remaining New Zealand batsmen cheaply the Indian batsmen dominated day 2. India has covered the time which was lost in rain. New Zealand were bowled out for 193 and India will begin day 3 with 292 on board with a loss of two wickets of Sehwag (74) and Gambhir (78).

Will the wait of 50th century of Sachin come to an end on day 3? He is unbeaten on 57 along with Dravid who is not out on 69. Let us all wait and watch as India extend their current lead of 99 runs. Probably a lead of 250 would be more than enough to put pressure on the Kiwis in the last session. With 3 days to go and if rain spare us this time, we are about to see a result in this match. Just as we speculated yesterday, Indian bowlers clicked on time on day 2 and clinched the New Zealand wickets quickly to wrap up their innings at 350 with Zaheer and Harbhajan ending up having impressive bowling figures of 4-69 and 4-76 respectively.

Following the bowlers the Indian openers Sehwag and Gambhir also performed up to the mark giving India a very good start. Sehwag as usual tried to hit a ball to the boundary when he was on 96, when he was bowled by Vettori. But no one can stop Sehwag from playing like that, isn't it and no one should actually. Because that is his natural game and players like him are the main reason because of which the test cricket is producing so much of result oriented matches. Gambhir scored 54.


Day 3 will begin with two greats entering into the ground viz Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. India will resume the play from 178 for 2. Probably a good stand between these two or the following strong batting line up will take India to a commanding position from where they can sight a victory.
